First of all, I want to single out Denise and thank you very much for the warm greeting and care today, thank you very much!
Doctor van Niekerk, I know I have already said thank you but I still feel that I need to do it in more detail.
My outer self does not reflect my inner self at all….so please allow me to let the inner side do the talking, but I will keep it short, I promise.
You do not realize what a great thing you have actually done. My family could have been standing at an open grave this week but no, I am still here because it was not time to go yet.
Doctor, you were part of God’s plan for me, you were an instrument that the Lord used, may the Lord bless you richly doctor.
I realize today that there was a reason why Medi-Clinic showed me the way and I had to come to Hilton Life.
Doctor Henry, you could have easily referred me to Greys but you took a chance to help me and I am forever grateful to you. Not only did you save my life, but you changed my life irrevocably. Do you realize what it feels like to be headache free? For the first time I can say I still hurt a little but I don’t have a headache and I can truly live now?
Without your care for your patients I would have been just another number, thank you very much doctor. You are a wonderful doctor and a wonderful person. May the Lord bless you richly for what you have done for me.

Dr H van Niekerk is a quintessential Specialist Surgeon with the ‘rare’ quality of being so humane. I had a Consult with him with a preconceived notion that I had a problem with piles. He did a physical examination and immediately diagnosed me with Rectal Cancer. What really warms my heart is the empathy, compassion & humility with the manner in which he navigated my hysteria. He was an absolute ANGEL on earth. When I questioned him how sure he was about his diagnosis. His response was ‘Ranee I am good at what I do’! He is most certainly GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES! His diagnosis was spot on. For practical reasons I had to shift my treatment going forward at the Busamed Hospital in Hillcrest. I remember my family members who are in the Medical field questioned his ability to diagnose without doing a biopsy etc. Subsequently after MRI, CT, BIOPSY & COLONOSCOPY his diagnosis was confirmed!
Dr H van Niekerk has such an amazing bed side manner.He calls you by your first name giving me as a patient confidence unlike the Medical Team that saw to be at Busamed. They never address you by anything. Furthermore Dr H van Niekerk took on so many hats post diagnosis during that consult. He became my Psychologist! Upon my request he called my Son who was celebrating his 42nd birthday to give him the shocking news. It didn’t stop there. His well groomed lovely receptionist Denise together with him because so inspirational. He had done the similar surgical procedure for Denise who has a bag. Both him & Denise played such a huge role to soothe my vulnerable fragile mind.
