Shan’s Story

It all started with a depressing visit to my doctor to discuss my weight and the impossibility of me being able to lose it. My doctor decided to run some blood tests and as I was leaving his rooms he mentioned that he would send me a video link that explained Bariatric surgery and a metabolic reset. I was so depressed that I didn’t even watch the link.

A few days later the blood tests came back telling me a sad story about my health. Then I did something out of the blue … I watched the Facebook video link that’s on this page and it was literally the first time I felt like I could beat this thing.

The most amazing experience started with a team of health care providers rallying around me and letting me believe that I was worth saving … literally. I’m not a religious person but this was like Divine intervention.

I had my surgery on the 24th September 2021 and that was the day I got my life back again. The journey of a lifetime started.

As the weeks and months passed, I began to notice changes – not just in my weight, but in how I felt about myself and my life. I had more energy, felt more confident, and I discovered a newfound sense of joy and vitality. My weight began to steadily decline, and with each kg lost, I regained a piece of myself that I had thought was lost forever.

I reached my goal weight 18 months after the surgery, but by then, I had realized that my weight loss journey was about so much more than just numbers on a scale. It was about reclaiming my health, my happiness, and my life. And as I look back on how far I have come, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the day I decided to seek help and the video that had sparked my transformation.

Since my surgery in September 2021, and have lost 45kgs and am a stable weight with a lovely BMI. I run Parkruns and do a 3km run every morning … and I look amazing (yes a bit of self-love here). I’m going to be on this beautiful Earth for much longer.

Thank you Bari-Team!
